To inspire and prepare all students and engage in learning; plan, supervise and coordinate quality foods; responsible for planning all aspects of school food service operation that directly affects quality, safety and sanitation.

• Participate in menu planning meetings to maximize participation and meet USDA requirements.
• Plan entrée alternates and additional programs (Fruit and Vegetable Grant, After School Snack, Dinner, Summer Programs, Special Events).
• Serve quality meals on time every day regardless of challenges.
• Determine and order appropriate quantities of food and supplies from multiple vendors.
• Calculate daily food quantities while minimizing waste.
• Schedule personnel efficiently within budget.
• Train staff on standardized recipes and meet special dietary needs and allergies.
• Ensure cross‑training and mentoring for staff potential.
• Manage food preparation to maintain highest quality.
• Implement HACCP sanitation guidelines and proper receiving and storage procedures.
• Maintain temperature logs on all appropriate equipment.
• Maintain positive work environment and conduct regular staff meetings.
• Conduct performance appraisals timely and respectfully.
• Maintain strict employee confidentiality.
• Encourage continuing education and promote staff certification through the School Nutrition Association.
• Accurately report monthly food, supply, and labor costs.
• Analyze monthly financial operating reports and take appropriate action to meet budget objectives.
• Oversee cash collection, daily deposits, and student meal account balances.
• Ensure all records are maintained for the required time as stipulated by USDA.

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Minnesota State Food Manager License.
• Serve Safe Certification.
• School Nutrition Level 1 Certification (minimum).
• Experience managing a school food service operation.
• Strong organizational and decision‑making skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Proficiency with technology (word processing, spreadsheets, online ordering systems, email).
