Senior Supplier Engineer
As a Senior Supplier Engineer, you’ll be the bridge between cutting-edge design and dependable manufacturing, leading the integration of newly acquired PCBA technologies into Boston Scientific’s global supply chain. Your work will directly impact the reliability, scalability, and speed at which life-changing devices reach patients around the world.
As the technical lead, you’ll work across R&D, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, and Global Sourcing to address complex supplier performance issues and ensure the integrity of supplied materials. You’ll apply strong engineering fundamentals to analyze PCBA designs, assess supplier process capability, and drive corrective and preventive actions that enhance quality, reliability, and manufacturability. This role will also develop and implement risk mitigation strategies that safeguard supply continuity and align with Boston Scientific’s long-term product roadmap.

At Boston Scientific, collaboration across disciplines is key to our success. This position follows a hybrid work model, requiring on-site presence with key partners at least three days per week to support design reviews, supplier technical discussions, and cross-functional problem-solving.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Working with suppliers around the globe to understand assembly and finished good manufacturing processes and act as a technical expert to ensure repeatable and reproducible quality/reliability during the life of the product
  • Partnering with Manufacturing Engineering, Operations Quality, R&D, Design Assurance, and Project Management to execute Material Controls deliverables according to program needs, such as purchased material qualification, supplier-driven change assessments, supplier capacity or capability improvement projects, or regulated materials compliance assessments
  • Partnering with Global Sourcing category teams to provide technical expertise in establishing and executing category objectives
  • Investigating and evaluating new and existing technologies for use in future products or to improve quality/reliability of current products
  • Conducting risk assessments on sourced materials and building installed capacity and capability at suppliers; plan and execute service risk mitigation measures to ensure continuity of component supply to BSC
  • Coordinating all phases of supplier engineering work content for projects and communicating emerging issues and recovery plans with site leadership and stakeholders to gain resources and support
  • Identifying and executing material cost reduction projects to meet plant, division, and category goals; influence cross-functional teams to support and drive value improvement projects
  • Demonstrating a primary commitment to patient safety and product quality by maintaining compliance to the Quality Policy and all other documented quality processes and procedures
What We’re Looking For:

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related discipline
  • Minimum 3 years of technical experience supporting complex electrical systems
  • Ability to travel 10-15% globally
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Understands PCBA and PCB manufacturing processes
  • Understands basic electronic circuit layout
  • Working knowledge of PCBA components, performance characteristics, and reliability factors
  • Working knowledge of statistical methods, six sigma, and problem-solving methodologies
