What You’ll Do
- Design, prototype, and validate embedded systems for a variety of real-world applications.
- Create design documentation (schematics, BOMs, assembly drawings, etc.) for new products.
- Troubleshooting of analog and digital circuits.
- Develop and maintain efficient, reliable firmware across 8-, 16-, and 32-bit platforms.
- Write clean, well-documented code in C for real-time systems with tight performance requirements.
- Collaborate with clients to develop tailored embedded solutions that meet unique technical needs.
- Create and maintain thorough documentation, including specifications, hardware drawings, and ECOs.
- Test and debug embedded software using tools such as in-circuit emulators and digital oscilloscopes.
- Analyze and resolve hardware-level issues by interpreting schematics and working hands-on with electronics.
- Participate in code reviews and design discussions to drive quality and innovation.
- Provide technical support to internal teams and external clients throughout the product lifecycle.
- Develop tools, scripts, and methods to streamline testing and verification processes.
- Contribute to the release of new products and improvements to existing systems.
- Perform additional engineering duties as assigned to support team and company objectives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or related field.
- A minimum of 5 years related experience and/or training – or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in embedded software or hardware development.
- Direct experience in programming in C for real-time systems in 8-, 16-, and 32-bit embedded environments.
- Knowledge of operating system concepts in embedded systems (RTOS).
- Understanding of common communication interfaces/protocols, such as RS485, I2C, SPI, UART, TCP/IP, and UDP.
- High degree of familiarity with in-circuit emulators, digital storage oscilloscopes, etc.
Preferred Knowledge & Attributes
- Strong technical knowledge of fire alarm systems, including hardware, software, and networking.
- Familiarity with circuit simulation tools (Spice).
- PCB layout experience (or an interest in developing PCB layout skills).

Location
This is a full-time position, on-site at our Maple Grove, MN office.
