Overview
Summary:
The Assistant in Training (AIT) and Assistant Manager position’s primary responsibility is to fulfill our mission statement, “to create the most enjoyable shopping experience possible for our Guests.” The AIT and Assistant Managers perform a variety of sales, merchandising and operational tasks assigned by store management (e.g., cashiering, merchandise display and pulls, register procedures, and routine cleaning of facilities). They work directly with the Store Manager and Leadership Team to develop sales, recruit new Teammates and provide leadership.
The AIT and Assistant Manager will share responsibility for training and motivating Teammates and act as the Store Manager in their absence. The Assistant Manager position is a progression from the AIT position and includes additional high-level duties, though the majority of duties are shared.
Compensation & Benefits: Pay range: $16-$21/hr for sales positions, Buckle pays a base rate plus commission on sales. The range listed is the estimated base rate plus commission for Teammates in this position. The estimated range is the budgeted amount for this position. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, location, qualifications and other job-related reasons.

Job FunctionsSales Generation and Guest Service
- Greet Guests with a friendly, engaging attitude and provide legendary service
- Answer questions regarding store and merchandise
- Recommend, select, and help locate merchandise based on Guest needs
- Anticipate and fulfill Guest’s needs by suggesting additional items and creating a wardrobe experience
- Demonstrate product knowledge and sales education to Guests and teammates
- Maintain knowledge of current sales and promotions, policies regarding payment and exchanges, and security practices
- Lead by example with showmanship and customer service across the store
- Achieve personal sales-per-hour, average sale and total net sales goals set by Store Management
- Build Guest relationships to develop a client-based business
- Use SPG (Sales Presentation Guide) to accomplish goals
- Communicate Guest levels and provide feedback to Manager and Team
- Assist in inventory searches and system tools to expand Guest selection
- Maintain high standards whether Manager is present
- Support Buckle’s business goals through leadership and sales initiatives
Teammate Recruiting, Training and Development
- Identify recruiting opportunities via Jobs & Careers cards, referrals, and Teammate recommendations
- Coach and develop new Teammates to meet Buckle standards
- Maintain a positive floor culture and dress code
- Participate in daily setup, training and performance tracking
- Motivate Teammates to complete daily tasks
- Demonstrate denim showmanship and educate teammates on products
- Support department calendars and weekly delegation
- Execute leadership actions and train non-sales positions as needed
Visual Merchandise Management
- Own and influence product through zone ownership and daily Teammate assignments
- Demonstrate new tools and videos related to zone ownership
- Delegate, demonstrate, and review all zones with Store Manager
- Maintain visual standards and weekly checklists with accountability
