Store Manager in Training – IPP – Independent Pet Partners

In this role, you will inspire, lead, and motivate your store team to provide outstanding customer experiences while advancing positive business results.

Responsibilities
  • Hire, train, and develop at least 2 store team members.
  • Create and maintain scheduling for store team members.
  • Coach and lead store team members to provide an exceptional guest experience and achieve sales goals.
  • Exercise discretionary authority, prepare reports, and hold yourself and the team accountable for performance measures and execution of organizational initiatives.
  • Create an environment of kindness and empathy toward pets and pet parents.
  • Consistently communicate our commitment to holistic pet wellness.
  • Provide guests with an exceptional experience.
  • Overall management of store operations.
  • Share product knowledge and suggestions to fit customer needs and promote pet health.
  • Perform front‑end duties such as handling the cash register, bagging, replenishing merchandise, and preparing displays.
  • Oversee all aspects of inventory such as merchandise replenishment, inventory adjustments, weekly cycle counts, store transfers, RTVs, and shipment processing.
  • Organize special store events and promotions in store.
  • Perform all other duties assigned by members of the Retail Management Team.
Requirements
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Passion for extraordinary customer service and the well‑being of pets.
  • Minimum 2 years of professional retail sales experience.
  • Minimum 1 year of professional managerial experience.
  • Budget and P&L management experience preferred.
  • Willingness to be educated about the products and services offered.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet sales targets.
  • Excellent communication skills—both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
  • Time management and organizational skills.
Physical Demands
  • Position requires indoor and outdoor work to assist with customer carry‑out.
  • Must be able to stand 8 hours per day.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Must be comfortable working with a wide variety of animals, including small and large dogs.
  • Must be able to work around pet hair and dander.

Salary: $21.00–$24.00 per hour DOE/DOQ.
