Westview Secondary School Counsellor

Join School District No. 42 as a Counsellor at Westview Secondary School. This temporary role focuses on supporting students in Grades 8–12 through academic and personal counselling.

The 1.0 FTE temporary position at SD42 is effective from September 1, 2026, to June 30, 2027. In this role, you will provide counselling services, coordinate emergency referrals, and assist with career and post-secondary planning. You will also work collaboratively with outside agencies to support student well-being and academic success.

Key Responsibilities:

• Offer personal and academic counselling services

• Coordinate emergency referrals and liaise with agencies

• Support students with post-secondary and career events

• Manage communication during critical incidents

• Maintain accurate documentation for graduation requirements

Requirements:

• Master’s degree in counselling psychology or equivalent

• Valid BC Teaching Certificate & TQS card

• Classroom teaching experience preferred

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

• Knowledge of Ministry requirements for secondary education
