Secondary School Counselling at SD

Position: Secondary School Counselling Role at SD42
Drive student growth as a Secondary Counsellor with School District No. 42 at Westview Secondary School. This temporary position addresses the needs of Grades 8–12 students.
This 1.0 FTE temporary counselling role will be effective from September 1, 2026, until June 30, 2027. As a Counsellor, your responsibilities include providing personal and academic support, coordinating with community agencies, and offering assistance during critical incidents. You will also facilitate career events and manage various post-secondary assessments for students.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support students in personal, academic, and career matters

• Coordinate and manage emergency referrals efficiently

• Provide liaison with RCMP and community resources

• Organize SAT, ACT, and other assessments for students

• Mediate during critical situations to ensure safety
Requirements:

• Master’s degree in counselling or equivalent experience

• Valid BC Teaching Certificate & TQS card

• Proven classroom teaching background required

• Strong collaboration and communication skills

• Understanding of Grade 8-12 educational requirements
