Counselor Safe Schools Program

Position: Counselor for Safe Schools Program
Support the emotional and social growth of students as a Counselor with SD42 in the Safe and Caring Schools program starting September 1, 2026. This role emphasizes trauma-informed practices and collaboration across diverse school communities.

SD42 is seeking a qualified counselor for a 0.8 FTE continuing position. You will provide individual and group counseling, develop Individual Education Plans (IEPs), and assist students in building essential life skills. Engaging with educators, families, and community services, your role is pivotal in promoting student well-being and addressing evolving needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Offer counseling services in groups and classrooms

• Facilitate self-awareness and emotional regulation

• Work itinerantly across multiple school communities

• Collaborate on IEPs and student support plans

• Maintain accurate documentation and confidentiality

Requirements:

• Master’s degree in counseling psychology or equivalent

• Valid BC Teaching Certificate & TQS card

• Proven elementary teaching and counseling experience

• Exceptional communication and teamwork skills

• Ability to connect families with community support resources
