Temporary Counsellor in Elementary Education

Become a Temporary Counsellor in Elementary Education at School District No. 42, starting September 1, 2026. This 0.2 FTE position emphasizes supporting students’ emotional and personal development.

You will deliver diverse counselling approaches tailored to the needs of K-12 students with a focus on trauma-informed practices. This role involves working across multiple schools, ensuring effective collaboration with teachers and families to maximize student success. Your ability to foster emotional regulation and problem-solving skills will be key.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide classroom-based and individual counselling services

• Implement preventative and intervention-based strategies

• Enable students in building resiliency and self-awareness

• Participate in Individual Education Plans (IEPs) development

• Connect families to district and community support services

Requirements:

• Master’s degree in counselling psychology or related field

• Experience in elementary teaching and counselling

• Strong interpersonal skills with education teams

• Team-oriented approach for student support

• Capacity to work itinerantly across schools
