The Opportunity

Shape something different—join our Mine Surface Water team in Western Canada and make an impact on projects that matter. From mine water management to infrastructure design, your expertise will help deliver solutions that protect communities and environments while driving innovation in hydrotechnical engineering.

Your Impact
  • Design and deliver water management infrastructure for mining and industrial projects, including spillways, culverts, and erosion protection systems.
  • Lead hydrologic and hydraulic assessments, water‑balance modeling, and dam breach evaluations to support safe and sustainable operations.
  • Oversee feasibility studies and detailed designs, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate geotechnical and environmental components into holistic project solutions.
  • Serve as a Qualified Professional for regulatory submissions and technical recommendations.
  • Mentor and guide junior and intermediate engineers, fostering technical excellence and career growth.
  • Drive business development initiatives, lead proposals, and maintain strong client relationships to expand WSP’s impact in the mining sector.
The Skills That Set You Apart
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil or Water Resources Engineering, with a focus on hydrotechnical design and water management.
  • Professional Engineer designation in your province of practice.
  • 7+ years of experience in consulting and mining projects across North America; international experience is an asset.
  • Expertise in hydrology, hydraulic structures, erosion protection, and closure landform design.
  • Proficiency in hydraulic‑modeling tools and water‑balance software.
  • A passion for delivering innovative, sustainable solutions that make a real‑world impact.

Compensation

BC, AB, SK, NWT & NU: $104,100 – $138,000
MB & ON: $89,400 – $130,800
Atlantic Provinces & QC: $88,500 – $124,900

The final salary awarded for this role may vary from the above range based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organisational needs. The wage range provided in this job posting may be subject to change for business purposes.
