Mechanical Designer at Epiroc, an international mining and construction equipment manufacturer. Salary range: $95,912.00 - $ .
Responsibilities- Help design the mechanical systems associated with one or more projects.
- Responsible for the function and safety of the mechanical systems.
- Critically review mechanical system designs.
- Communicate and collaborate with peers, customers, and other stakeholders to achieve project goals.
- Identify and mitigate risks to ensure successful project outcomes.
- Prepare technical documentation: part drawings, FEA reports, design reports, FMEA analysis, ISO, CSA and other industry standards.
- Identify opportunities for process and design improvement/optimization.
- Plan for and execute testing and commissioning of systems.
- Coordinate integration of systems to ensure compatibility, efficiency, safety, and reliability.
- Maintain assigned project’s CAD and PLM data.
- Create technical drawings and reports.
- Minimum 2+ years of related industry experience.
- Experience with functional safety application design and development under IEC EN 61508.
- Engineering degree, diploma, or equivalent.
- Baseline understanding of programming logic and control of mechatronic systems.
- In‑depth understanding of manufacturing processes: casting, forging, welding, milling, lathing, cutting, bending, 3D printing.
- In‑depth understanding of mechanical engineering principles.
- In‑depth knowledge of integrating battery systems, electric drive trains, power electronics, thermal management, and related components to create a functional vehicle.
- Baseline knowledge of communication protocols such as CAN and Ethernet.
- Baseline understanding of various sensors, actuators, and control requirements.
- Knowledge and experience with industry standards.
- Proficiency in 3D modelling, CAD best practices, and large‑assembly management.
- Understand system schematics and diagrams (mechanical, hydraulic, cooling, electrical, functional block).
- Strong mathematical and problem‑solving abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Logical and methodical problem‑solving approach.
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- Friendly disposition; works well with diverse teammates.
- Willingness to push personal and team boundaries.
- Ability to perform general assembly, fabrication, and manufacturing tasks.
