Community FireSmart Coordinator Position

Join the City of Maple Ridge as a Community Fire Smart Coordinator, focusing on fire safety awareness and education. This temporary full-time role promotes community relations and Fire Smart initiatives.

In this role, you will promote fire safety by organizing and facilitating outreach programs and educational sessions. Work with Firefighters on site visits and provide residents with recommendations for fire prevention strategies. This position requires effective communication with the public and collaboration with various stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

• Organize Fire Smart promotional activities and events

• Conduct site visits to assess fire risks with Firefighters

• Develop reports and educational materials on fire safety

• Attend community events to promote safety initiatives

• Establish relationships with community representatives and departments

Requirements:

• Diploma in Forestry or a related discipline

• Relevant experience in fire safety or wildfire management

• Excellent oral and written communication skills

• Ability to maintain effective relationships with diverse contacts

• Capability to navigate rural and remote areas
