Salary The salary range for this position is CAD $29.76 - $31.64 per hour.

We are hiring a relief part time peer support worker, Assertive Community Treatment Program (ACT) – Mental Health, to join our team in the Maple Ridge/Pitt Meadows, B.C. areas. Detailed Overview

In accordance with the organization’s vision and values, the Peer Support Worker uses lived experience of mental illness/substance use to assist ACT clients in community living. The PSW collaborates with the client and the ACT team to meet individual needs, provide information from a lived experience perspective, and support clients in obtaining services from ACT staff, external providers, and community resources.

Supports include emotional, social, life skills assistance, and demonstrations, in settings such as streets, shelters, hospitals, apartments, and offices.

Responsibilities
  • Establish a dignifying relationship with the client and clarify the PSW role.
  • Assist clients in developing life skills such as personal hygiene, housekeeping, meal planning, financial management, appointment keeping, and interpersonal skills.
  • Provide information regarding empowerment, self‑help education, and life skills.
  • Help clients integrate into the community through activity participation and escorting to services.
  • Facilitate connections between community services and ACT clients.
  • Share client experiences with ACT team members.
  • Collaborate with client and ACT team to meet needs and situational requirements.
  • Support clients in self‑managing mental illness, substance use, and other health conditions through problem‑solving and linkages to peer supports.
  • Assist clients with housing‑related tasks such as packing, transport, setup, cleaning, and community orientation.
  • Participate in program planning, development, evaluation, and quality improvement.
  • Maintain program documentation, including progress notes, incident reports, and on‑call logs.
  • Distribute medication per policy and procedure.
  • Stay updated on community resources and help clients access services.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy work environment and report hazards per Fraser Health policies.
  • Participate in staff meetings, quality improvement initiatives, committees, and in‑services.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications

    Education and Experience
    • Lived experience of mental illness.
    • Grade 12 and completion of a recognized peer support worker training program.
    • One year of recent related work experience focused on mental health, addictions, homelessness, and/or social services.
    • Food Safe Certificate.
    • Current valid Class Five BC Driver’s License and access to a personal vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage.
