We are currently looking to fill a casual position as a Speech Language Pathologist at Ridge Meadows Hospital. If you have current registration with the College of Speech and Hearing Health Professionals of BC (CSHBC) including applicable College certification(s), we are looking for you.

Responsibilities
Provides speech language assessment of the patient s communication, speech and swallow functional abilities, needs, and goals by methods such as reviewing records, gathering information, interviewing the patient, identifying expectations, applying evidence-based assessment methods, consulting with the health care team, performing examinations, and monitoring the patient s health to support speech, language, voice and swallowing performance.
Analyzes needs, establishes diagnosis and prognosis, develops an evidence-based intervention strategy, discusses analysis with patient and caregivers, sets short- and long-term goals, and selects a suitable intervention model to achieve optimal outcomes.
Implements interventions in accordance with treatment guidelines and educates patients and caregivers regarding self-management and health promotion.
Participates in interprofessional care planning, updating care plans and ensuring effective implementation and coordination of care.
Evaluates and documents effectiveness of interventions, monitors patient responses, and adjusts plans to achieve goals and functional independence.
Maintains seamless quality patient care by identifying referrals, screening priorities, and facilitating referrals to appropriate programs.
Collaborates with patients and families in developing the care plan, maintaining a therapeutic relationship that respects privacy, dignity, and patient autonomy.
Maintains patient records, documents progress, and compiles statistics and reports as requested.
Delegates components of treatment to speech and hearing assistants with appropriate supervision and documentation.
Acts as a resource to other professionals and participates in meetings and team activities to support evidence-based practice and quality and safety initiatives.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education and Experience
Current registration with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC including applicable College certification(s).

Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of speech language pathology theory and practice within a patient- and family-centered model; knowledge of CSHBC standards of practice; knowledge of dysphagia assessment and related equipment; ability to communicate effectively; ability to work independently and as part of a team; ability to prioritize workload; basic research knowledge; ability to operate related equipment; physical ability to perform duties.
