Salary Range: $55,000 – $65,000 annually (based on experience)
Position OverviewUP Vertical Farms is a pioneering leader in sustainable vertical farming and agri‑technology, committed to producing high‑quality leafy greens through advanced controlled environment agriculture (CEA) systems. We are seeking an experienced and detail‑oriented Grow Supervisor to join our Grow team.
This role is responsible for overseeing daily cultivation and grow operations throughout the full crop lifecycle, while supporting production efficiency, crop quality, food safety, and sustainability initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring hands‑on experience in horticulture, greenhouse operations, or vertical farming environments, along with strong leadership, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
The Grow Supervisor works closely with the Grow Manager, Operations, R&D, and Quality teams to ensure optimal plant health, operational performance, and compliance with food safety and Occupational Health & Safety standards.

Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe Grow Supervisor will support daily grow operations and crop production by:
- Supervising daily cultivation activities including seeding, germination, transplanting, irrigation, spacing, and harvesting.
- Monitoring plant health, crop quality, and environmental conditions including nutrients, EC, pH, temperature, humidity, lighting, and CO₂ levels.
- Leading and supporting grow team members during production and harvesting activities.
- Ensuring compliance with food safety, sanitation, and Occupational Health & Safety procedures.
- Maintaining accurate operational records, grow logs, sanitation checklists, and crop performance data.
- Supporting R&D grow trials, biological data collection, and process improvement initiatives.
- Identifying plant diseases, pests, or operational issues and implementing corrective actions.
- Assisting with crop planning, labour scheduling, inventory organization, and grow equipment maintenance.
- Training and coaching staff on SOPs, safety protocols, and cultivation best practices.
- Performing cleaning and sanitation procedures for grow systems, irrigation lines, and production areas.
- Performing related duties as required.
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence.
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in horticulture, greenhouse operations, or controlled environment agriculture (CEA).
- Previous supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.
- Education or background in agriculture, horticulture, plant science, or related field is an asset.
- Experience with hydroponic or vertical farming systems is considered an asset.
- Forklift certification is an asset.
- Strong leadership and team coordination abilities.
- Excellent observational and problem‑solving skills related to plant health and grow systems.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced production environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong communication, organizational, and documentation skills.
- Ability to operate and troubleshoot automated grow systems and irrigation equipment.
- Comfortable performing physically demanding tasks including standing, bending, lifting, and repetitive work.
- Commitment to food safety, workplace safety, and continuous improvement.
- Work is performed on‑site in climate‑controlled grow rooms and greenhouse facilities.
- Physically active role involving standing for extended periods and lifting up to 30 lbs.
- Some weekend, evening, or night shifts may be required based on crop cycles and operational needs.
