Salary The salary range for this position is CAD $41.42 - $59.52 / hour

Who can apply? Fraser Health RN employees and external RN candidates who meet the following criteria:
Current active practising or provisional registration with British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)
Current CPR certification
Commit to a comprehensive education program
A commitment to a minimum of 18 month regular full-time or part-time FH employment in the specialty area upon successful completion of the program
An agreement to attend an orientation session at an educational institution for applicable specialty program
An agreement to travel to an appropriate site/campus and to clinical practice areas (mileage reimbursement per HEABC/ BCNU Letter of Understanding on Specialty Education)
An agreement to allow the education institution to release student progress information (complete/ incomplete/ withdrawn) to the FH Specialty Education division of Professional Practice
BCIT and Program Details British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) offers a 28-week Perioperative program (12 weeks online & 16 weeks full-time studies). Nurses in this program complete modular theory developed by the Association of peri Operative Registered Nurses (AORN), simulation, and clinical experiences to consolidate scrub and circulating perioperative nursing competencies. The clinical component occurs at the sponsoring site via an instructor-supported preceptorship.
The program will prepare nurses for novice practice in a variety of Perioperative settings.
Detailed Overview In accordance with BCCNM standards and Fraser Health values, the Registered Nurse provides direct patient care by assessing, planning, providing and evaluating nursing care. The purpose of this position is to provide qualified registered nurses the opportunity to consolidate their skills by rotating through a specialty nursing unit(s) prior to and/or during post graduate coursework applicable to the relevant unit(s).
Successful applicants will be expected to participate in and complete the applicable post graduate specialty nursing courses/program within the agreed time frames.
Responsibilities Assess patients and collect information; plan, perform and evaluate nursing interventions and care.
Collaborate with patients and families in developing and modifying the care plan; advocate for patient rights and informed decision-making.
Coordinate care, set priorities, delegate tasks, and refer to the interprofessional care team as needed.
Collaborate with the interprofessional care team to identify issues and adjust care plans.
Educate patients and families about illness prevention and health maintenance; assess learning needs and provide information for self-care and discharge planning.
Record assessments, plans, interventions, and outcomes according to standards and Fraser Health procedures.
Participate in committees, quality improvement activities, and ongoing professional development.
Qualifications
Education and Experience Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with BCCNM
Completion of the applicable post graduate specialty nursing course/program or willingness to complete
Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification
Skills and Abilities
