Salary Range: $31.53 - $36.94 per hour (placement on scale based on qualifications and experience relevant to position).
OverviewAs a member of the Maple Ridge WorkBC Centre team, the Career Coach (Youth) plays a dynamic role working with youth who are looking for employment and supporting the daily operations of the Centre.
Responsibilities Individual Support- Conduct needs assessment to identify strengths and employment barriers
- Determine eligibility for financial supports and services
- Tailor services to individual client needs
- Assist client with development of individualized action plans that clearly outline goals, service needs, and steps to achieve desired employment
- Provide ongoing client support including documenting progress and outcomes using the Ministry approved database
- Assess and refer for specialized assessments when needed (including medical assessment reports, psychological and vocational, learning disability, neuropsychological, and functional capacity)
- Provide coaching and support toward employment or further education
- Maintain regular contact to monitor progress and provide motivation
- Refer clients to community supports as needed
- Provide outreach for case managed services as needed
- Participate in committees with the mandate of supporting youth
- Represent the Maple Ridge WorkBC Centre through participation in community events, such as career fairs, community days, and other special events
- Track client progress and maintain accurate records in ICM
- Manage distribution and tracking of financial supports
- Complete and submit required reports
- Monitor performance targets and review with the Centre Manager
- Participate in team meetings and case conferencing
- Foster a respectful, collaborative work environment
- Provide coverage in the Employment Resource Area and for colleagues as needed
- A Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, training and career consulting experience
- Experience with employment counseling and programs
- Experience working with youth
- Demonstrated ability to use computer software applications including MS Office, database entry and ability to research information using the Internet
- Creative and passionate about working with clients to secure sustainable employment
- Knowledge of career assessment, problem solving and decision-making strategies
- Knowledge of local labour market and trends
- Knowledge of WorkBC and its mandate
- Willingness to travel within the catchment
- Satisfactory completion of a Criminal Record check including a vulnerable population check (a criminal record will not automatically result in denial of application)
