$31.53 – $36.94 per hour. Salary placement on scale based on qualifications and experience relevant to position.
As a member of the WorkBC team in Maple Ridge, the Customized Career Coach plays a dynamic role working with our specialized populations to secure employment.
Responsibilities
Conduct a thorough Disability Related Needs Assessment (DRENA).
Assess and refer to specialized assessments as part of a client Action Plan (including medical assessment reports, psychological and vocational, learning disability, neuropsychological, and functional capacity).
Interpret the results of specialized assessments and recommend next steps, including support for long‑term interventions or external referrals to appropriate community agencies.
Work with the client’s natural support network and other community service providers, as needed.
Assist clients with the development and updating of individualized action plans.
Provide job search and career planning assistance to clients.
Maintain detailed and updated client documentation in ICM, including notes on client progress, referrals, updates, outcomes, and reports database.
Provide ongoing support and maintain consistent contact with clients throughout program participation.
Monitor the client’s ongoing need for supports and services.
Analyze labour market trends to identify opportunities.
Promote WorkBC services to employers and community stakeholders, highlighting customized wage subsidies.
Create and support unpaid work experiences, community attachment, and job placements.
Maintain regular contact with the client to support, motivate, and monitor progress.
Ensure that appropriate follow‑up mechanisms are in place to capture and celebrate the client’s sustained employment.
Work to Training Group’s Quality Management System, ISO
9001:2015 standard.
Community Outreach
Provide outreach for case‑managed services as needed.
Participate in committees with the mandate of supporting clients with disabilities.
Represent the Maple Ridge WorkBC Centre through participation in community events, such as career fairs, community days, and other special events.
Additional Duties
Participate in weekly team meetings, strategic planning sessions, and performance management reviews.
Miscellaneous as required.
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training and career consulting experience.
Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse range of individuals with complex barriers and a wide range of cultural backgrounds.
Experience with employment programs.
Experience working with persons living with a disability.
Able to interpret specialized assessments and engage in meaningful conversations with positive outcomes using active listening and empathy.
Demonstrated ability to use computer software applications, including MS Office and database entry, and ability to research information using the Internet.
Creative and passionate about working with clients to secure sustainable employment.
Possess strong interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of career assessment, problem‑solving strategies, and decision‑making theories.
Knowledge of local labour market and trends.
Willingness to travel within Lower Mainland and reliable transportation with a valid BC Driver’s License.
Successful completion of a criminal record check including a vulnerable population check (a criminal record will not automatically result in application denial).
Access to a car and a BC Driver’s License is mandatory.
