School District Child and Youth Worker

Position: School District 42 Child and Youth Worker Role
Join School District No. 42 as a Child and Youth Care Worker focusing on Indigenous Education. This essential role enhances student engagement and emotional development through targeted support.

In this position, starting September 8, 2026, you will work 29 hours per week with Indigenous youth in Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows. School District No. 42 is committed to culturally responsive education and may prioritize applicants with Indigenous ancestry. This role requires building strong relationships with students and collaborating with various educational teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Establish stable relationships with students and families

• Support educational goals and integrate individualized programs

• Facilitate smooth transitions for students between programs

• Plan and monitor school-wide nutritional and emotional initiatives

• Liaise with community agencies and internal resources

Requirements:

• Completion of Grade 12 and a relevant diploma

• Six months’ experience with at-risk youth in schools

• Strong teamwork and effective communication skills

• Completion of Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training

• Valid B.C. driver's license
