Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) – Part-Time
Hourly pay: $33.00 – $38.00 per hour.
Position OverviewThe Counselor plays a key role in delivering treatment services to clients and ensures that all clients receive services mandated by the Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS). Responsibilities include providing services to support effective personal development by working with clients individually and in group settings to identify and resolve issues related to substance use, mental health, personal and emotional, and family dynamics.
Counselors must maintain client confidentiality in accordance with state and federal guidelines and HIPAA requirements.
- Current LADC license
- Age 18 or older
- Working knowledge of substance use disorder and/or mental health, preferably in an addiction treatment facility
- Previous counseling or counseling internship experience
- High degree of computer literacy, including experience with an electronic health record (EHR) system
- Excellent written, communication, customer service, and case management skills
- Ability to pass Minnesota DHS background study
- Maturity, patience, understanding, and empathy with recovering individuals; ability to work with a multidisciplinary team
- Ability to relate to people from diverse backgrounds
- Physical demands: sitting for extended periods, daily use of general office and/or residential facility equipment, lifting up to 10 lb, minimal reaching, bending and stooping, navigating program and office environment.
- Proficient in documenting services in written English and effective communication in English.
- Additional licenses such as LP, LICSW, LMFT, or LPCC
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a related field
- Skill as consultant and facilitator
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Strong facilitation, negotiation, investigation, and mediation skills
