Fairview has an immediate opening for a Lead Surgical Aide n's Hospital, located in Maplewood, MN.
This is a 1.0 FTE (80 hours per two-week pay period), benefits-eligible opening on evening shift, Monday - Friday, 2:30PM - 11PM, with rotating weekends.
The Lead Surgical Aide functions in a hybrid role that serves as team lead within the Surgical Aide team and performs Surgical Aide duties in the department. Provides leadership to surgical aides by setting examples and standards for the staff. Assists in management of daily patient flow within the OR. Coordinates surgical aides' workflow to maximize efficiency and productivity in the OR.
PrimaryResponsibilities
- Remains in the Surgical Services Department (PACU, SAU, OR and Anesthesia) except during scheduled breaks/mealtimes, during transport, or completing out of department anesthesia turnovers.
- Perform all duties associated with Surgical Aide role
- Make daily assignments Surgical Aides to OR’s
- Ensure that all Surgical Aides responsibilities are completed daily.
- Coordinate, prioritize and delegate work
- Ensure availability of Surgical Aide personnel for all OR turnover
- Assign assistance with transport as needed.
- Coordinate lunch and break relief
- Communicate/coordinate with others
- Coach/mentor Surgical Aide staff members
- Participates in committees and process improvement projects
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Complies with all policies and standards
- Education: Two years of college coursework in biology, physiology, anatomy, or related scientific fields.
- Certification: Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc or Red Cross)
- Experience: Understands basic aseptic technique.
- Understands the security requirements of medications and IV solutions
- Experience in a surgical setting
- Previous related medical experience, operating room experience or completion of related medical/science college-level courses, certificate, or degree preferred.
- Previous healthcare or operating room experience or medical training preferred.
- Candidates who are interested in pursuing an advanced medical career; or candidates who are in school or planning to attend school for a healthcare, medical, or science degree or certification; or candidates interested in pursuing a hospital-related bachelor’s degree is preferred.
