Job Title

Sr. Director of New Market Innovation

• Lead the incubator’s technical strategy, ensuring alignment with corporate and CBG growth objectives.
• Establish and maintain frameworks for technology scouting, feasibility analysis, and commercialization pathways.
• Drive decision‑making using data‑driven insights, market analytics, and technical risk assessments. Source and evaluate early‑stage technologies, platforms, and business models from internal R&D and external ecosystems.
• Lead technical due diligence and proof‑of‑concept development for high‑potential ideas.
• Lead the structured stage‑gate processes for rapid prototyping, validation, and scaling.
• Lead product development team to ensure technical viability.
• Collaborate with finance, marketing, and commercial teams to build business cases, and go‑to‑market strategies.
• Translate complex technical concepts into clear business implications for executive stakeholders.
• Manage incubator infrastructure.
• Apply agile methodologies and lean startup principles to accelerate innovation cycles.
• Optimize resource allocation across multiple technical projects with varying risk profiles.
• Represent the incubator within CBG and the enterprise.

Minimum qualifications:

• Advanced degree or higher in a business or STEM related field (completed and verified prior to start).
• Thirteen (13) years of experience leading end‑to‑end innovation processes within technical or business fields in private, public, government, or military environments.

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

• Five (5) years of consumer products marketing experience in a private, public, government or military environment.
• Experience working with cross‑functional teams.
• Executive and board level presentation experience.

  This role follows an on‑site working model, requiring the employee to work at least four days a week at the 3M Center in Maplewood, MN.
• Travel:
  May include up to 10 %.
• Relocation:
  Is not authorized.
