The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
3M is seeking a talented and experienced Lead AI Platform Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for implementing and optimizing LLMOps, MLOps pipelines and frameworks, leveraging your expertise in cloud platforms and Dev Ops automation tools. The ideal candidate will possess strong collaboration, communication, leadership, and technical skills to drive the success of our projects.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the design and implementation of AI/ML architecture, ensuring optimal orchestration, deployment, and performance of models.
- Deploy scalable, full-stack applications and Agentic AI solutions integrated seamlessly within existing enterprise systems.
- Design and implement efficient MLOps pipelines for quantitative ML models, Large Language Models (LLMs), ensuring robust deployment, observability, and maintenance.
- Establish best practices for AI orchestration, application development, and MLOps, promoting reliability and scalability.
- Provide technical leadership and support cross-functional teams by troubleshooting complex issues and driving continuous innovation initiatives.

- Design, implement, and optimize Dev Ops pipelines for efficient deployment and monitoring of AI models.
- Develop and maintain robust and scalable solutions for the GenAI platform.
- Integrate and coordinate various AI services and components using APIs, CI/CD pipelines, and automation frameworks.
- Establish end-to-end framework for model observability, infrastructure performance monitoring and Fin Ops.
- Research and evaluate new technologies and frameworks for MLOps and automation.
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or Engineering (completed and verified prior to start).
- Four (4) years of experience in platform engineering/Dev Ops in a private, public, government or military environment.
- Two (2) years of experience in MLOps, automation, or Dev Ops using tools such as Docker, Git Hub Actions, Kubernetes, Airflow, MLflow or other open-source technologies.
- Two (2) years of experience in Infrastructure as Code tools like Bicep, Cloud Formation, Code Build, Terraform.
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
- Master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field from an accredited institution.
- Strong knowledge of AWS or Azure Cloud platform.
- Experience with API Operations, API Gateways, RESTful APIs, message brokers, and event-driven architectures.
- Familiarity with NLP & AI concepts and frameworks, such as Tensor Flow, PyTorch, or Scikit-learn.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Work location: On site in Maplewood, MN

The expected compensation range for this position is $164,612 - $201,193, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position.
