Position: CD Tech ($20.00hr) - Part-Time

Chemical Dependency Technician (Maplewood)

Part‑time position at the Maplewood location. Ideal candidates have experience in mental health or substance abuse and are available weekdays and weekends.

Rate: $20.00 per hour, plus an additional $1.00 per hour for hours worked between 11:00 PM and 7:00 AM.

Position Overview

As part of the multidisciplinary team, the Chemical Dependency Technician (CD Tech) assists clients from admission through discharge, providing support through the extended substance and mental‑health treatment process. The CD Tech supervises and manages client behavior, responding to crisis situations when necessary, and assists on‑duty counselors as required. The role demands self‑confidence, professionalism, discretion, and the ability to manage competing demands and adhere to program schedules and rules.

Qualifications,

Skills, Knowledge and Experience
  • Age 18 or older.
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification and (for residential positions) Medication Administration certificate obtained within 30 days of starting work.
  • Ability to pass a Minnesota Department of Human Services background study.
  • Ability to relate to people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Physical demands: sitting for extended periods, daily use of general office/ residential facility equipment, lifting up to 25 lb, minimal reaching, bending, and stooping. Ability to navigate program and office environments including stairs and doorways.
  • Proficient in reading and writing English, understanding and following instructions, and documenting services accurately in English.
Preferred
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Previous experience in an addiction treatment facility or in substance‑use disorder and/or mental‑health field.
  • Competent computer skills and ability to enter information in various systems.
