The Town of Marana is seeking a term-limited temporary
Parks and Recreation
Maintenance Associate I to work in the Parks and Recreation Department – Trails Division. This is a full-time position and an exciting opportunity for someone interested in working with a dynamic team in the Recreation Division creating great outdoors experiences in Marana, a community that raises the bar for the best quality of life. The individual selected for this position will primarily work at El Rio Preserve and/or Heritage River Park, and will assist with outdoor recreation programs.

The individual selected for the term-limited temporary position will be eligible for benefits and will participate in the Arizona State Retirement System. The temporary position is expected to last until June 30, 2026 with the possibility of extension.

Pursuant to the Marana Town Code, Sections 3-1-2(D) and 3-1-3(B), and the current Salary Schedule implemented by the Town Manager, the position of Parks and Recreation Maintenance Associate I(Trails) is defined as a temporary position. Temporary positions are at-will employees and employment may be terminated upon the will of the employer or employee at any time with or without cause.

Schedule

8-hour days, Monday-Friday, with occasional weekend work. Hours may vary depending on the season and the needs of our recreation programs; workdays and start times may vary, including the possibility of weekend shifts.

Expected Hiring Range

$16.00 - $19.60

  • placement within the expected hiring range is dependent on direct experience, internal equity and/or budget
Salary Range

$16.00 - $23.20

  • Performs building maintenance, custodial services, janitorial duties, and trash control for parks facilities
  • Transports equipment using trucks and trailers
  • Provides assistance and great customer service to citizens in the parks
  • Assists with various department led projects
  • Assists with Town special events
  • Assists with implementation of recreation and volunteer programs and events
  • Transplants desert vegetation as needed
  • Assists with removal of invasive plant species
  • Installs trail amenities, benches, and signage
  • Utilizes and maintains hand tools; including power tools
  • High school diploma or GED equivalency
  • 6 (six) months experience in trail maintenance, outdoor recreation programming, and or related field

An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience that provides the desired knowledge, skills & abilities to successfully perform essential functions may be considered.

Additional Requirements
  • Must complete a pre-employment physical including an audiogram and pass a 50-pound lift test.
  • Valid Arizona driver license and the ability to pass a motor vehicle record check
  • Ability to pass Town of Marana background check
