Sea Turtle Rehabilitation Specialist

The Turtle Hospital is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to rehabilitation, education, and research of sea turtles. The Turtle Hospital is a state-certified veterinary facility and has been in operation for over 38 years.

Assist with the rehabilitation of sea turtles with direct animal care including feeding, cleaning, medical procedures and care, rescues, releases, water quality, tank cleaning, maintenance of systems and habitat and a variety of other tasks. Experienced employees will prep/assist with sea turtle surgeries as well as perform necropsies.

Sea turtle rehabilitation and medicine experience preferred. Must be able to draw blood, prepare and understand blood chemistry, shoot radiographs, administer injections, assist in surgeries, tube feed, and all related duties on a sea turtle. MUST be detail oriented and self-motivated. You will be expected to participate in sea turtle rescues in and out of the water which can be physically demanding.

You MUST be physically fit and a strong swimmer. Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Experience working with water systems is beneficial. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and creative skills are necessary. A clean driving record is required.

This is a paid full-time, approximately 40 hours per week position. Pay rate is $19.00/hour. Housing is provided on-site at the Turtle Hospital at no cost.
