About the Role

As a Long‑Term Sociology Teacher, you will deliver engaging and thought‑provoking lessons to KS4 and KS5 learners. You will bring strong subject knowledge, an enthusiasm for the social sciences, and the ability to create purposeful lessons that develop curiosity, analytical thinking, and a deeper understanding of societal structures. Building positive relationships, encouraging open discussion, and fostering critical thought will be central to your classroom practice.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver high‑quality Sociology lessons aligned with KS4 and KS5 curriculum requirements
  • Support students in developing strong analytical, evaluative, and written communication skills
  • Collaborate with colleagues within the department, maintaining consistency with school policies and curriculum expectations
  • Create a calm, structured, and inclusive classroom environment
  • Encourage curiosity, debate, critical thinking, and a deeper understanding of contemporary social issues
  • Provide targeted support to students who need additional help with confidence, behaviour, or academic progress
  • Contribute positively to the school’s community‑focused and inclusive ethos
  • Promote high standards in extended writing, independent study, and sociological investigation

  • QTS and experience teaching Sociology at secondary level (KS4/KS5)
  • Strong classroom management and excellent communication skills
  • Ability to challenge, inspire, and support learners of mixed abilities
  • A proactive, positive, and enthusiastic approach to teaching
  • Genuine passion for Sociology and supporting young people’s academic journeys
  • Commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, and the school’s core values
  • Secondary teaching experience preferred – ECTs welcome to apply
