Performs a variety of task under the supervision of the Water and Sewer Field Representative Supervisor. These tasks include food service provider’s education program, reclaimed water user educational program, grease trap/interceptor inspections, reclaimed water facility inspections, and is in charge of coordinating and maintaining department electronic records, imaging documents, electronic storage and record retrieval systems. Provides information to the general public, staff, vendors, engineering firms and governmental agencies as instructed.

Aids with a wide variety of assignments including contract information, research projects, and various departmental programs.

  • Interacts with reclaimed water customers to ensure reuse water is applied appropriately
  • Responsible for educating reclaimed water customers on reclaimed water allowable usage, regulatory requirements, and the amount of nutrients provided through reclaimed water application
  • Visually inspects reclaimed water customer facilities to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements; verifies proper posting reclaimed water signage and reviews reclaimed water usage
  • Interacts with commercial customers to enforce the City’s grease control requirements
  • Initiates the City’s annual grease permit program for food service facilities; tracks permit applications; issues permits when all requirements have been met
  • Visually inspects grease traps and grease interceptors to ensure compliance with City requirements; verifies hauling records and issues inspection reports; issues annual grease trap permits, and grease interceptors permits as needed
  • Responsible for educating customers, grease haulers, and grease equipment manufacturers on the City’s grease control requirements
  • Resolves conflicts as necessary during enforcement of City codes related to the industrial pretreatment program, initiates enforcement action as necessary
  • Issues Notice of Violations or citations in accordance with City codes
  • Inspects and approves modifications to grease control facilities; re-inspects grease control facilities to ensure compliance with City requirements
  • Maintains database of compliance inspections and facility improvements
  • Conducts investigations of grease related wastewater blockages or releases to determine possible contributing facilities
  • Provides case preparation and sworn testimony in Code hearings
  • Conducts water quality sampling of grease control and other facilities
  • Responds to wastewater release events
  • Works in accordance with all safety rules and regulations
  • Monitors the permitted restaurant seating program
  • Provides administrative support for the Water and Sewer Department
  • Assists with the development of standards and requirements related to all aspects of the Water and Sewer Department
  • Assists customers with modifications to facilities to ensure compliance with reclaimed water rules and regulations
  • Assists customers with modifications to facilities to ensure compliance with grease control codes
  • Assists in posting boil water notices and lane closures to website
  • Have on call rotation weekends for posting notices
  • Assist in basic impact fee computation
Supervision:
  • None

High school diploma or GED; supplemented by experience in water/wastewater utilities operations and maintenance, utility location and inspection or code enforcement. Be able to obtain Reclaimed Water Inspector certification. Must have or be able to obtain Florida Association of Code Enforcement (F.A.C.E.) certification. May be required to have or obtain additional formal industry certification(s) based on area of assignment. Regular in office attendance is required.
