Jefferson Wells is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Cost Accounting Consultant for a long-term engagement (up to 2 yrs) with a manufacturing client located in Marengo, IL. This hybrid role offers a dynamic opportunity to contribute to both cost and general accounting functions in a collaborative team environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Cost Accounting- Record all production-related costs including direct materials, labor, and overhead.
- Assist with annual standard cost updates and analysis.
- Support readiness controls and activation of standard costs for new items.
- Contribute to cost roll-ups for quoting purposes.
- Collaborate with Operations to resolve cost data accuracy issues.
- Calculate unit costs for finished goods.
- Analyze variances between standard and actual costs.
- Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies (e.g., BOM errors, negative inventory).
- Perform reconciliations for general ledger accounts and resolve discrepancies.
- Prepare monthly journal entries and support month-end close processes.
- Analyze financial data and provide variance analysis with actionable insights.
- Collaborate with the accounting team to ensure accurate financial reporting
- Perform additional general accounting duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in general and cost accounting from a manufacturing setting.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Detail-oriented, self-directed, and highly motivated with strong problem-solving and multitasking abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel and Word).
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX or similar accounting software preferred.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to work independently with large data sets.
