The RoleLotus Recruitment is seeking a dedicated and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in Margate, supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone with experience supporting children and young people with additional needs. The school provides a nurturing, structured environment where pupils are supported to overcome barriers to learning and achieve their potential both academically and personally.
Responsibilities- Supporting pupils with SEMH and ASD needs throughout the school day
- Providing one-to-one and small-group support
- Promoting positive behaviour and emotional regulation
- Building positive relationships based on consistency and trust
- Supporting pupils with their learning and individual needs
- Working alongside teachers and the wider school team
- Helping to create a safe, structured and engaging learning environment
- Previous experience working within an SEMH school, alternative provision, specialist setting or similar educational environment is highly desirable
- Experience supporting children or young people with challenging behaviour
- Confident, resilient and able to remain calm under pressure
- Firm but fair approach with strong behaviour management skills
- Passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- A background in education, youth work, residential care or similar settings would be advantageous
- Full academic year placement with consistent work
- Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 3:30pm
