Our client, a well-established global manufacturer, is seeking an experienced Buyer to join their supply chain team on a 14-month contract. This is an excellent opportunity for a purchasing professional with strong planning experience and SAP knowledge to play a key role in ensuring material availability and supplier performance.

You will be responsible for purchasing and planning a range of manufacturing components and materials, ensuring timely supply to support production and customer demand. Working within SAP, you will manage supplier relationships, purchase orders, inventory levels and inbound shipments from UK and international suppliers.
Key Responsibilities- Raise and manage purchase orders through MRP
- Maintain SAP MM purchasing and planning data
- Manage supplier performance, delivery schedules and forecasts
- Expedite orders and resolve shortages
- Coordinate import shipping and logistics activities
Support inventory control and stock optimisation - Resolve supplier quality and delivery issues
- Produce purchasing and supplier performance reports
- Support colleagues across the purchasing team when required
- Minimum 3 years' purchasing and planning experience within manufacturing
- Strong SAP MM knowledge
- Experience in inventory control, scheduling and supplier management
- Knowledge of shipping, imports and international supply chains
- Strong negotiation and communication skills
- Ability to identify and mitigate supply chain risks
