Hours:

Shift patterns across Sunday to Saturday
- Shift times 6:00 - 14:00 & 12:00 - 20:00

Pay Rate: £12.71 per hour
* enhanced rates for bank holidays

Contract Duration:
Seasonal (July
- September)

We are looking for dedicated and hardworking individuals to help keep Thanet clean, safe, and welcoming for residents, visitors, and businesses.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coastal Cleansing:
    Litter picking, emptying bins, sweeping stairs, weeding, and maintaining beaches, car parks, and promenades.
  • Independent & Team Work:
    Work alone or as part of a team to uphold cleanliness standards.
  • Shift Work:
    Adapt to shift patterns, including weekends, to meet service demands.
  • Equipment Use:
    Operate brooms, litter pickers, and powered cleaning tools.
  • Health & Safety:
    Follow safety procedures, conduct daily equipment checks, and report defects.
  • Public Engagement:
    Interact with the public professionally while representing the council.
  • Environmental Awareness:
    Follow best practices and environmental risk assessments.
  • Record Keeping:
    Complete time sheets, log tasks, and report any service issues.
  • Additional Duties:
    Support other tasks as required within the role's scope.
Requirements
  • Must be 18 years old or over
  • Ability to work independently and use initiative
  • A smart phone for communication
  • Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Basic verbal and written communication skills for record-keeping
  • Understanding of health & safety procedures
  • Ability to use a tablet or similar device for reporting tasks
  • Flexibility to adapt to different working patterns and locations
Desirable (Not Essential)
  • Knowledge of the Thanet District
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Experience in a public service role
  • Familiarity with waste collection vehicles
