DescriptionAs a Bartender at Dreamland, reporting to the management team, you will play a key role in delivering outstanding hospitality by serving a diverse selection of drinks from independent brewers and businesses. You’ll be mixing, pouring, chatting, and making sure every guest leaves an experience to remember – all in the name of ‘Exceptional Hospitality’.
This position is well suited to someone with a strong interest in being a part of KERB, ideally, with a good understanding of casual food and beverage service. You should have experience working in a fast‑paced setting, with a keen eye for spotting upselling opportunities.
While experience in high‑volume bars or hospitality is highly desirable, the most important qualities you bring to the role are a positive/flexible attitude and excellent communication skills.
What you’ll be doing- Providing an exceptional service to our guests and answering any queries, complaints/issues and escalating to line manager when necessary.
- Taking direction from senior members of the team, but also using your initiative to work independently and maintain a calm and professional approach in a busy environment.
- First and foremost working the bar, pouring drinks, a basic understanding of cocktails but this can be taught, and coffee making.
- Supporting with bar set‑up ready for opening – chopping fruit, putting out candles, final clean‑down.
- Clean down and re‑set for the following day, including but not limited to waste removal, glass washing, switching off electrical items, rotating stock as necessary.
- Maintaining an excellent understanding of the food and beverage offering at Dreamland and being able to make suggestions and recommendations to guests based on their preferences.
- Ensuring compliance with safety regulations and alcohol service laws, including checking the identification of customers to verify age.
- Excellent people skills, confident talking to our guests and traders.
- An eye for spotting upselling opportunities.
- A positive and flexible attitude, with the ability to think laterally and a willingness to problem solve.
- Experience using tablet‑based till systems – we use Goodtill.
- An awareness of the licensing objectives.
- A love of brilliant food and drink.
- Availability to work weekends and evenings.
- 1 year of experience in bartending, however this isn’t a deal‑breaker.
- Great knowledge of beers, wines & spirits – cocktail and coffee experience would be a bonus.
