Responsibilities

  • Deliver emotional support, advice and guidance via face‑to‑face, telephone, and video.
  • Assess situations to determine risk and the needs of the person accessing support.
  • Make decisions under pressure while communicating with the person accessing support.
  • Accurately record new contacts and details of visits and calls on relevant electronic systems.
  • Work in line with performance targets and key contractual requirements, providing data and case studies as requested.
  • Advise and be actively involved in individual risk assessment and review.
  • When identified, implement an appropriate action plan/safety plan to meet the individual's needs.
  • Encourage those accessing support to recognise, understand and manage factors that affect their mental wellbeing and physical health.
  • Work with a range of partners, stakeholders and external agencies to meet the individual's needs and support with individual safety and delivery of the service.
  • Work as a team member, sharing information and supporting colleagues, ensuring they have the knowledge, information and resources to be successful in their roles and make a positive and valued contribution to the service.
  • Actively obtain relevant literature/resource materials from appropriate internal teams and external agencies to assist with support conversations and signposting.
  • Partake in training and mentoring for all new staff.
  • Attend all relevant meetings and supervision sessions.
  • Be able to work as part of a team and on own initiative where required.
  • Work with the team to continually improve own and team performance.
  • Ensure personal training and development needs are identified.
  • Actively involve people and their informal support networks in service planning, delivery and review.
  • Carry out duties on a rota system to meet the service requirements of being open 365 days a year, or as stipulated in area‑specific contract.
  • Agree to be contacted whilst not on shift to alleviate any rota issues/difficulties that will assist in ensuring continuous service delivery (last option).
  • Actively promote a positive image of Mental Health Matters and mental health issues.
  • Engage with community events, meetings and forums and local organisations and networks.
  • Promote the service and MHM.
  • Proactively contribute to continuously improving the service by making positive suggestions, providing constructive feedback and assisting in the implementation of agreed new ways of working.
  • Any other duties relevant to the post.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Advanced experience and understanding of complex mental health needs, displaying emotional intelligence to those who you support.
  • Demonstrated recovery‑focused support and ability to implement and evidence support in recovery work.
  • Enhanced understanding of IT systems and record keeping, ensuring a high standard of data recording.
  • Ability to work well as a team providing compassion and advocacy, ensuring diligent handovers and consistent care.
  • Commitment to ongoing training and development of own and fellow employees.
Shift Patterns

Shift: 3 x 12 hours a week (nights) including weekends (8pm to 8am).

Salary

£24,478.50 – £27,028 per annum (£26,607 – £29,378 FTE).
