Part‑Time Library Technician - Mountain View, Sweetwater Valley, and Switzer

These five part‑time Library Technician positions are located at the Mountain View, Sweetwater Valley, and Switzer libraries. In this customer service role, the successful candidate will assist patrons in a very busy branch with using online resources and public computers in addition to providing circulation services. They will also be assigned to assist with shelving, processing book donations, processing daily delivery of materials, and special projects under the guidance of librarians.

This position requires an 18‑hour week, including nights and weekends, with assigned Sunday afternoon shifts.

Key responsibilities include:

• Circulation/information services including checking books in and out, registering patrons for library cards, and registering patrons for voter registration cards.
• Taking fines for overdue books.
• Assisting in keeping daily statistics.
• Developing and maintaining a working knowledge about the organization and care of library materials, library services and programs.
• Performing other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required; supplemented by six or more months work experience involving public interaction/customer service.
• Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5–10 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation.

Sensory Requirements

• Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.

Environmental Factors

• Essential functions are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
