Pay Frequency: Monthly
Primary Function: Assists the classroom teacher with students to complete educational activities as directed.
Starting Hourly Rate: $15.65 – $21.81
Requirements- Education Level: Associate's degree or higher in any subject from a GaPSC-accepted accredited institution; completed 2 years (60 semester hours) of college coursework above remedial level with a grade of "C" or better; hold a high school diploma or GED and have passed the GACE Paraprofessional Assessment.
- Certification/License: Maintain a Georgia Paraprofessional Certificate which includes in‑service training related to the position.

Activities:
Routine physical activities required to fulfill job responsibilities; lift a student up to 60 pounds without assistance; perform a two‑person lift for students over 60 pounds. - Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Written and oral communication.
- Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.
- Exhibits professionalism in all job‑related situations; follows professional ethics and presents a personal appearance that enhances the school’s image.
- Follows all county, state and federal policies and procedures.
- Assists the classroom teacher in preparing and implementing class activities.
- Assists with record‑keeping and data collection.
- Participates in school functions, field trips and extracurricular activities as indicated.
- Participates in ongoing in‑service training.
- Assists with hall duty and bus loading/unloading as directed.
- Assumes a lead role with the substitute teacher when the classroom teacher is absent.
- Assists with toileting, diapering, food preparation, feeding and other delegated medical procedures as directed.
- Assists the movement of students from one area to another or to specialized positions.
- Assists with instruction, positioning and therapy as directed by related services personnel.
- Maintains a sanitary environment; handles body fluids following universal precautions.
- Implements community‑based instruction or campus‑based skills training without on‑site supervision, in accordance with state guidelines.
- Monitors the classroom during teacher’s participation in IEP meetings or other activities/planning which require the teacher to be out of the room.
- Performs other duties as assigned by appropriate administrator.
