7th Grade English Teacher

The Walker School is seeking a dynamic, creative, and student centered 7th Grade English Teacher for an immediate opening in our Middle School. This full time, benefit eligible position is ideal for an educator who models a love of literature and writing, values strong relationships, and believes deeply in the power of student voice.

At Walker, English classrooms are spaces where students read closely, write with purpose, engage in meaningful discussion, and develop empathy and curiosity. Our faculty are known for pairing high academic expectations with genuine care for each student.

• Teach five sections of 7th Grade English
• Approximately 90 total student contacts
• Serve as a grade level advisor for 10 to 15 students
• Support students through daily tutorial time and thoughtful feedback
• Participate fully in the life of the school through collaboration, conferences, and supervision

The ideal candidate is an energetic and reflective educator who:

• Inspires a love of reading, writing, and discussion
• Embraces student centered, discussion based instruction
• Builds strong, trusting relationships with middle school students
• Collaborates effectively with colleagues and families
• Demonstrates a growth mindset and commitment to continuous improvement

• Bachelors degree required;
  Masters degree or advanced coursework preferred
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching and advising middle school students
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability and willingness to integrate technology to enhance learning
