Senior Mechanical Engineer

Overview

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer for our Atlanta, GA branch location. This role functions as a hands-on engineer providing process and packaging engineering expertise for project design, commissioning, and start-up. Requires approximately 25% travel to client sites for meetings, field inspections, and startup.

• Apply engineering principles to existing and proposed processes, working with clients, vendors, and other consultants on projects in process engineering, packaging engineering, and facility layout. Industries may include foods, pharmaceutical, pulp and paper, chemical, and other industries.
• Lead and/or support cross-functional teams to develop and execute capital projects. Work on the plant floor with mechanics and operators as needed to gather information and serve as an operational resource for the facility.
• Perform engineering calculations to support plant production and improvement projects. Manage major, complex projects from concept to completion and multiple concurrent smaller projects. Develop project scope and schedule, track project cost, and generate proposals and budgets in collaboration with the client.
• Design, plan, and implement cost-effective processes and equipment for new and existing products. Deliver projects on aggressive schedules with attention to accuracy and safety requirements.

• Work on process designs. Calculate line flow rates, pipeline sizes, and pump sizes. Specify equipment and instrumentation. Develop concept flow diagrams and detailed P& of production processes using AutoCAD.

• Work on packaging line designs and installation, equipment specifications and selection, new technology investigations and implementations. Create line layout drawings using AutoCAD.

• B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 5-10 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience in specifying processing equipment (pumps, mixers, valves, etc.) and packaging equipment (fillers, cappers, case packers, conveyors, etc.).
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Excel, Word, and Project software.

• Must possess eagerness to research new equipment, processes, and technologies. Energetic, positive, self-motivated, and capable of working with little supervision. Strong communication, people skills, and professional ethics.
• Support production start-ups to ensure safe operational and functional requirements for projects.
• Must be able to climb ladders and stairs, including a caged personnel ladder, and be able to take measurements and conduct walk-downs. Able to walk long distances within large manufacturing facilities as required.

• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Excel, Word, and Project software is expected.
