Dining Room Manager – Assisted Living

Position Summary

The Dining Room Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the dining room in our assisted living community, ensuring residents receive exceptional service in a safe, clean, and welcoming environment. This role plays a vital part in enhancing residents’ quality of life by promoting dignity, independence, and hospitality during meal times.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure residents are greeted warmly and served respectfully, with attention to individual needs and preferences.
  • Coordinate with nursing and dietary staff to accommodate special diets, allergies, and texture-modified meals.
  • Monitor resident satisfaction and address concerns promptly and compassionately.
Dining Room Operations
  • Supervise meal service to ensure timeliness, cleanliness, and adherence to health and safety standards.
  • Maintain an inviting dining atmosphere that supports the emotional and physical well-being of residents.
  • Implement infection control protocols and ensure compliance with local and state regulations.
  • Hire, train, and manage dining room staff including servers and hosts.
  • Develop staff schedules and ensure adequate coverage for all shifts.
  • Provide ongoing coaching and performance evaluations to promote professional growth and accountability.
  • Work closely with the Culinary staff and Nursing team to ensure seamless coordination of meal service.
  • Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff to support a positive dining experience.
  • Participate in care plan meetings when needed to support resident nutrition and dining preferences.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; hospitality or senior care certification preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in food service or hospitality management, ideally in assisted living or healthcare.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with a passion for serving older adults.
  • Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and elder care regulations.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays.
Working Conditions
  • Active environment with frequent resident interaction.
  • Standing and walking for extended periods.
  • Occasional lifting of supplies or equipment (up to 25 lbs).
