In developing the infrastructure for a robust program that supports the health and well‑being of our clinical workforce (physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, etc.), the Program Analyst is a critical team member supporting the Office of Clinician Well‑Being (OCW). Reporting to the Director of Operations for the OCW, the Analyst extracts, tracks, and reports on key performance indicators related to clinician turnover, measures of well‑being, and electronic health record efficiency.
The Analyst collaborates with stakeholders, designs and distributes data visualizations and dashboards, and serves as a subject‑matter expert on visualization tools and techniques.
Analytics & Visualization Development
- Extracts data in alignment with specified project aims.
- Ensures data extraction methodology guarantees accuracy.
- Retrieves data from sources such as Epic, Epic Signal, Well‑being Index (WBI) platform, etc.
- Uses statistical tools/programs provided by Wellstar Health System.
- Analyzes multi‑source data trends using descriptive statistics as requested by leadership.
- Identifies at‑risk clinicians or groups.
- Performs additional analyses as needed.
- Works directly with stakeholders to understand business requirements.
- Selects the most appropriate visualization tool and delivery mechanism, including level of interactivity and drill‑down.
- Designs, develops, documents and distributes the visualization in accordance with stakeholder guidelines.
Planning & Process
- Acts as a liaison with stakeholders to communicate data structure or metric needs for data model building.
- Develops a working knowledge of data lineage, metadata, and overall meaning.
- Identifies and sources data quality issues, bringing them to Wellstar Enterprise Intelligence leadership.
- Understands benchmarking and comparative analysis techniques and interpretation.
- Gains an excellent understanding of data transformed, managed, and reported by the EI team.
- Participates in planning of new OCW initiatives/projects to identify data needs.
- Ensures clarity of project aims.
- Standardizes processes for thorough needs assessment.
- Creates surveys and other accessible methods of data collection when needed.
- Works with behavioral health team members to make data accessible.
- Consults with leadership to develop databases for long‑term tracking.
Interpretation & Reporting
- Maintains an understanding of relational databases and practical data manipulation.
- Applies knowledge of technology tools used by Wellstar, such as SQL, SSRS, Power BI, Advanced MS Excel, MS Sharepoint, SAS, etc.
- Schedules review sessions of analysis findings with project leads.
- Provides statistical findings related to priority initiatives.
- Delivers on‑time visual summaries and reports to OCW team members as needed.
- Prepares summaries for OCW newsletters and other communication streams.
Research & Collaboration
- Collaborates with OCW team members on development of scholarly works.
- Performs other duties as assigned and complies with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.
Minimum Education
- Bachelor’s in Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or related field.
- Minimum 6 years working directly with customers from requirements gathering through delivery of interactive data visualizations.
- Minimum 6 years working with complex data sets in a relational database environment using SQL Server, MS Access, SAS, MS Excel, Tableau, Power BI, and other visualization tools.
- Experience with healthcare‑specific data, concepts, and terminology.
- Preferred:
Significant experience in data analytics and visualization;
Clinical background is a plus.
