A Brief Overview

The Senior Quality Improvement Data Consultant harnesses data insights to enhance patient care quality, operational efficiency, and safety across the health system. The role combines expertise in data analysis, quality improvement, and stakeholder collaboration to drive data‑driven strategies that improve clinical outcomes. Working closely with clinical, administrative, and IT teams, the consultant collects, analyzes, and interprets diverse data sets, using advanced statistical methodologies and visualization tools to inform decision‑making and support quality initiatives.

Maintaining robust data governance standards, ensuring data accuracy, and providing clear, actionable insights through dashboards, reports, and presentations are core responsibilities. The consultant actively participates in quality improvement projects, delivers training on data tools and methodologies, and supports the development of a culture of safety and quality.

What You Will Do Data Analysis, Monitoring, and Reporting
  • Analyze complex datasets to identify trends, patterns, and insights that drive business decisions.
  • Conduct exploratory data analysis to uncover opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies.
  • Develop predictive models and data visualizations to forecast outcomes and support strategic planning.
  • Design and implement systems for continuous monitoring of key metrics and performance indicators.
  • Regularly assess data accuracy, integrity, and consistency, addressing discrepancies as needed.
  • Identify and report anomalies or emerging trends.
  • Create and maintain dashboards, reports, and visualizations that communicate data insights effectively to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to customize reporting solutions based on business needs.
  • Ensure timely delivery of scheduled and ad‑hoc reports, aligning with organizational goals.
Quality Improvement
  • Serve on quality improvement teams to support data and information needs of high‑priority projects.
  • Monitor effectiveness and provide feedback through data insights.
  • Promote continual improvement in data visualization and reporting processes.
  • Develop and implement data quality standards, policies, and best practices.
  • Conduct root‑cause analysis for recurring data issues and recommend corrective actions.
  • Implement quality control measures and audit processes to validate data accuracy and compliance.
  • Provide training and documentation to promote a culture of data quality awareness.
Stakeholder Collaboration
  • Work with cross‑functional teams to support clinical quality initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Wellstar's Data Warehouse team to extract data using SQL, SAS, or Python tools.
  • Provide training and support to staff on data collection and analysis techniques.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Lead conversations with business units, technical teams, and leadership to understand analytic needs.
  • Translate technical concepts into actionable insights and requirements.
  • Maintain strong relationships to foster collaborative environment for data‑driven decision‑making.
Data Governance
  • Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date clinical data sets and dashboards.
  • Ensure data integrity and security per organizational policies.
  • Develop and implement data management/governance protocols and procedures.
  • Monitor data lifecycle processes to maintain integrity and minimize risk throughout data collection, storage, and use.
  • Collaborate with IT and data management teams to enforce standards for data stewardship and accountability.
Research and Development
  • Stay current with industry trends and best practices in data analytics and visualization.
  • Participate in quality and safety research projects and contribute to publications and presentations.
  • Experiment with new methodologies and techniques to improve data analysis and reporting capabilities.
  • Develop proof‑of‑concept projects to evaluate emerging data tools and frameworks.
  • Recommend and implement innovative solutions to streamline processes and enhance organizational data literacy.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Computer and Information Science.
  • Minimum 5 years of clinical analysis experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a healthcare setting (preferred).
  • Minimum 5 years of clinical data experience (preferred).
