Overview

Mgr Facilities role at Wellstar Health System. Management of the assigned Engineering division, project management, oversight of administrative and other off-site campus locations, and coordination of office assignments, relocations, and changes at corporate sites. Responsible for repair and construction services and for financial planning and management of the Preventative Maintenance Program.

Core Responsibilities And Essential Functions
  • Department Day-To-Day Operations:
    Coordinate with Supervisors to ensure interior and exterior of assigned facilities meet desired standards; facilitate interior signage programs; schedule and conduct routine facility visits; maintain logs and ledgers for local, state, and federal requirements; actively meet facility management needs; communicate effectively with all management levels; maintain updated lists and status of off-campus facilities; plan and implement equipment and system upgrades to avoid costly repairs and downtime;

    ensure fire alarm, fire sprinkler, medical gas, and domestic water/sewage systems are in proper working order; accurately maintain preventive maintenance tasks for relevant sections (plumbing, electrical, medical gases, auto doors, fire systems, etc.).
  • Financial Planning:
    Assist with managing approved capital items with accurate balances; assist in developing operational and capital budgets; follow proper accounting procedures for charging parts and labor; adhere to purchase approval procedures; manage monthly engineering billing; assist in tracking department expenses; manage approved capital items and projects; evaluate and implement energy conservation improvements; advise the department Director on capital plans.
  • Department Operations:
    Coordinate with direct reports to schedule work duties; review construction drawings for assigned facilities; complete special projects timely; control parts and materials costs; coordinate with Supervisors and Team Leaders for on-call responsibilities and daily paperwork; prepare and submit weekly project status reports; ensure daily paperwork by direct reports is completed in a timely and thorough manner.
  • Personnel Management:
    Schedule work duties in a timely, cost-efficient manner; ensure compliance with shift start/stop and break times; anticipate personnel needs and changes; perform annual personnel evaluations and related duties.
  • Trust/Engagement (Mandatory Content):
    Build a culture of trust and engagement; hold leaders accountable for behaviors that create trust and engagement; perform duties in a manner reflecting Well Star values; strengthen relationships with physicians and involve them in developing systems for cost-effective, quality patient care and staff satisfaction.
  • Results Oriented Leadership (Mandatory Content):
    Set challenging goals; hold team accountable while providing leadership and motivation; provide resources and support; use data to track progress and establish systems to measure results.
  • Collaboration and Partnership (Mandatory Content):
    Work collaboratively with hospital leadership; partner with Human Resources to achieve organizational culture and staffing goals; foster positive relationships across staff and physicians; focus on patient satisfaction, safety, customer service, staff participation, collaboration, motivation, and effective communication.
Qualifications

Required Minimum Education:
High school diploma or GED (Bachelor’s degree preferred).

Required Minimum Licenses And Certifications:
All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.

Required Minimum Experience:
Minimum 5 years of professional work experience in managing Facility Engineering operations with knowledge related to Joint Commission, CMS, and LSC Compliance.

Required Minimum Skills:
Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage maintenance and engineering workforce; computer literate with strong technical, organizational, and interpersonal skills; proficient with PC-based tools.
