Responsibilities- Rewrite or modify PLC ladder logic programs to achieve the plant’s Key Performance Indicators and serve as the liaison between operators, leaders, and management.
- Evaluate machinery’s PLC systems to prioritize end‑of‑life items, manage capital projects, and calculate ROI, acting as project leader on new equipment procurement, installation, and commissioning.
- Develop, review, and organize Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and training material; train operations and maintenance users in new systems.
- Perform safeguard techniques and document changes to prevent loss of programs or corrupted memory; ensure secure protection protocols.
- Compile month‑end reporting data for key maintenance performance indicators and recommend improvements.
- Assist with all safety issues related to production, ensuring safety goals are achieved through engagement in meetings, conversations, and incident reporting.
- Create, evaluate, and revise preventive maintenance procedures to reduce unscheduled downtime and increase reliability, predictability, and consistent quality performance.
- Allen and Bradley RS Logix 5000 certification plus 1 year of direct PLC programming, or 4 years of solo programming and commissioning on multiple platforms.
- Ability to perform mathematical equations needed for PLC programming (e.g., slope, strip weight tension, coil diameter increase, RPM to Feet per minute).
- Capable of wearing a respirator.
- Capable of driving a forklift.
- 2 years of mechanical background and experience to aid during PID tuning.
The ability to read and comprehend documents including safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and simple correspondence; ability to communicate information in small group situations to other employees.
Mathematical SkillsAbility to calculate figures and amounts such as fractions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
Reasoning AbilityAbility to apply common sense to perform work instructions that are furnished in written, oral, and/or diagram form and solve problems involving multiple variables in standard situations.
Physical DemandsRegularly required to talk or hear, walk, stand, sit, bend, stoop, use hands to handle objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance; must lift a minimum of 75 pounds. Vision: close‑up and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
