Summary/Objective
The Perioperative RN is responsible for keeping patients safe during surgery by providing care before, during, and after surgery. This position ensures that the operating room is clean and sterile while prepping for procedures but also is in the operating room to ensure they can aid the surgeon where needed. This aid includes tasks such as positioning the patient, sterilization of wounds and monitoring the patients’ vital signs.
Responsibilities- Delivers safe patient care according to facility policies and procedures.
- Assesses the patients’ conditions prior to surgery.
- Monitors the patient during surgery.
- Maintains aseptic technique within a controlled environment.
- Manages surgical equipment and supplies.
- Completes intraoperative documentation.
- Monitors physiologic status of patient in recovery.
- Demonstrates ability to make sound-decisions in emergency scenarios.
- Collaborates with surgical team members and other medical professionals on patient medication and care.
- Documents medical data in Nex T ech (EHR system) accurately.
- Exemplifies the desired culture and philosophies of the organization working effectively as a team member with other members of management and the clinic staff.
- Travel to multiple locations may be required.
- Additional duties may be assigned, as needed.
- At least 1
-2 years of operating room experience in an ASC/office-based surgery center preferred. - At least 1 year of preoperative, circulating, and PACU experience preferred.
- Knowledge of health and safety guidelines.
- Ability to multitask with strong organizational skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Excellent communication skills – Fosters an environment of collaboration and respect with physician colleagues, nurses, and other healthcare team members.
- Flexible schedule, operating days can start as early as 6 AM.
