OverviewAt Dogwood Veterinary Specialty & Emergency, we provide advanced veterinary care that focuses on surgery, emergency medicine, and critical care. Our hospital is equipped with state‑of‑the‑art surgical suites, advanced anesthesia monitoring systems, and a full range of diagnostic tools to support complex medical and surgical cases.
Location:
Marietta, Georgia
- Prepare surgical patients, including IV catheter placement, medication administration, and anesthetic induction.
- Perform anesthesia induction, intubation, and advanced monitoring (ECG, capnography, blood pressure, etc.).
- Maintain a sterile surgical field and provide intraoperative support to surgeons.
- Monitor and adjust anesthesia levels during surgical procedures.
- Provide post‑operative care, including recovery monitoring, pain management, and wound care.
- Maintain accurate and timely medical records.
- Assist with instrument sterilization and surgical suite maintenance.
- Collaborate with ER and ICU teams for continuity of critical patient care.
- Graduate of an accredited Veterinary Technician program preferred.
- Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) in the state of Georgia strongly preferred.
- Veterinary Assistants with significant experience in emergency/surgical settings will also be considered.
- 2+ years of experience in veterinary surgery, anesthesia, or emergency/critical care preferred.
- Experience assisting in orthopedic, neurologic, or minimally invasive surgeries highly desirable.
- Skilled in anesthesia induction, maintenance, and recovery for critical and high‑risk cases.
- Strong knowledge of sterile technique, surgical instrumentation, and anesthetic drugs and protocols.
- Proficiency in placing IV catheters, administering fluids, managing surgical records, and assisting with imaging procedures.
- Familiarity with emergency response protocols and CPR for intraoperative complications.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with clients and team members.
- Compassionate, calm, and patient‑centered in high‑stress situations.
- High level of attention to detail in surgical prep, record‑keeping, and patient monitoring.
- Dependable, adaptable, and ready to step into fast‑paced situations with professionalism.
