Overnight Veterinary Technician or Assistant
Join to apply for the Overnight Veterinary Technician or Assistant role at Dogwood Veterinary Specialty and Emergency located in Marietta, Georgia.
LocationMarietta, Georgia.
Shift7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (overnight).
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct care for emergency and critically ill patients, including stabilization, IV fluid therapy, pain management, continuous monitoring of vital signs.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring patient responses are closely monitored.
- Assist in emergency procedures such as CPR, tracheal intubation, airway management, wound care, venipuncture.
- Continuously monitor critically ill patients, operate advanced monitoring equipment (ECG, pulse oximeter, capnography, blood pressure cuffs).
- Perform diagnostic tests (CBC, chemistry panels, blood gas analysis, urinalysis), support imaging (X‑ray, ultrasound).
- Assist with emergency surgeries, anesthesia monitoring, induction and recovery, post‑operative care, pain relief.
- Communicate clearly with pet owners, document all care in EMR, provide follow‑up instructions.
- Inventory and equipment management, maintain controlled substances inventory.
- Collaborate with veterinarians and staff, mentor junior technicians, support process improvement.
- High School Diploma; completed veterinary technician program preferred.
- Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) or Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) preferred.
- Minimum 3–5 years experience in high‑volume or emergency veterinary setting.
- Experience with emergency and critical care procedures, overnight shifts preferred.
- Proficiency in venipuncture, intubation, CPR, anesthesia monitoring, diagnostic imaging, laboratory procedures.
- Strong critical thinking, communication, teamwork, physical resilience (lift up to 40 lb.).
