Position Description

Diesel Mechanic Technician – Permanent Full Time, Master Level

Support the Truck Fleet at Ryder in Marietta, Georgia.

• Hourly Pay: $30.00 per hour
• Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE Certification up to $700
• Quarterly Bonus: Up to $500 each quarter (four times per year)
• Sign‑On Bonus: $1,750 at 30 days and $1,750 at 90 days
• Schedule: Monday – Friday, weekends off
• Hours: First Shift 7:00 am – 3:30 pm

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Vocational or Technical Certification or Post-Secondary degree preferred
• Basic tools
• Experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work)
• Basic diagnostics and repairs, including AC and electrical systems
• Three (3) years or more relevant work experience preferred
• Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred
• All other certification required by location
• Minimum of 2 years mechanical repair and diagnostics experience on heavy‑ and medium‑duty equipment
• Computer skills (PC, Windows, mouse)
• Must obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
• Pass a Ryder Drug Test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, and background & motor vehicle check

• Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties, including standard and preventive maintenance
• Diagnose complex mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers when applicable
• Complete complex and detailed mechanical inspections & repairs with minimal supervision
• Replace defective components as instructed
• Work unsupervised on most tasks
• Perform facility maintenance duties
• Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaints when assigned a task
• Utilize key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation
• Operate in accordance with all federal, provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT)
• Act as mentor for Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels
• Access and use internal and external maintenance documents
• Other support duties as required (e.g., Service Island support)
• Complete SBTIII training within 180 days (SBT
  220)
• Complete at least 2 OEM On‑Line diagnostic scan tool software courses within 365 days
