Position Description
Diesel Mechanic Technician – Permanent Full Time, Master Level
Support the Truck Fleet at Ryder in Marietta, Georgia.

- Hourly Pay: $30.00 per hour
- Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE Certification up to $700
- Quarterly Bonus: Up to $500 each quarter (four times per year)
- Sign‑On Bonus: $1,750 at 30 days and $1,750 at 90 days
- Schedule: Monday – Friday, weekends off
- Hours: First Shift 7:00 am – 3:30 pm

- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Vocational or Technical Certification or Post-Secondary degree preferred
- Basic tools
- Experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work)
- Basic diagnostics and repairs, including AC and electrical systems
- Three (3) years or more relevant work experience preferred
- Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred
- All other certification required by location
- Minimum of 2 years mechanical repair and diagnostics experience on heavy‑ and medium‑duty equipment
- Computer skills (PC, Windows, mouse)
- Must obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
- Pass a Ryder Drug Test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, and background & motor vehicle check
- Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties, including standard and preventive maintenance
- Diagnose complex mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers when applicable
- Complete complex and detailed mechanical inspections & repairs with minimal supervision
- Replace defective components as instructed
- Work unsupervised on most tasks
- Perform facility maintenance duties
- Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaints when assigned a task
- Utilize key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation
- Operate in accordance with all federal, provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT)
- Act as mentor for Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels
- Access and use internal and external maintenance documents
- Other support duties as required (e.g., Service Island support)
- Complete SBTIII training within 180 days (SBT
220) - Complete at least 2 OEM On‑Line diagnostic scan tool software courses within 365 days
