The YMCA of Metro Atlanta is one of the oldest and most essential non‑profits serving the Atlanta community. We are looking for a committed Swim Instructor to help us positively impact lives and communities across the state.
About the YMCAWe provide high‑quality education, youth development, sports, aquatics, and community services to more than 200,000 members, 58,000 youth and teens, and over 25,000 volunteers. Our mission is to empower children and families, promote healthy living, and foster social responsibility.
Minimum Requirements- At least 16 years of age.
- Demonstration of swim instructor skills in accordance with YMCA standards.
- YMCA Swim Instructor certification, or equivalent.
- CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid, and Emergency Oxygen certifications required.
- Completion of “Intro to the Y’s Cause and Culture,” Living our Cause & I Hear You, and Service with Care e‑learning within the first 30 days.
- Instruct swim lessons in accordance with YMCA guidelines, preparing lesson plans and supporting students in achieving their goals.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with volunteers, members, families, and colleagues, encouraging parent or caregiver involvement.
- Communicate aquatics program information and schedules, referring participants and families to related programs when appropriate.
- Maintain records such as attendance and progress reports.
- Follow all YMCA policies, rules, regulations, and safety procedures; complete incident and accident reports as necessary.
- Organize, store, and report damaged equipment.
- Train and supervise class aides as assigned.
- Perform other YMCA duties as assigned.

Work Environment & Physical Demands- Physical demands include instructing and observing proper stroke techniques, life equipment handling, and lifting small to average‑sized children.
