Transport students to and from assigned education center in the absence of the regular school bus driver, control passenger behavior, and maintain safe operation of the assigned bus on an as‑needed basis.

• High School Education or GED (preferred).
• Valid Georgia Commercial Driver License with S and P and air brake endorsement; must be at least 21 years of age. Class A, B or C driver’s license required; holder must have a valid driver’s license for at least three years prior to application and must obtain a commercial driver’s license permit before entering the Bus Driver Training Program. CDL is not required to apply.
• Successful completion of the Bus Driver Training Program provided by Cobb County Transportation Department.
• Physical abilities: lifting, bending, sitting for prolonged periods, upper body mobility, ability to lift equipment or students weighing up to 40 lbs. Pre‑employment and annual physical examination required.
• Written and oral communication skills.
• Knowledge, skills, and abilities as required; alternatives may be accepted by the Board of Education and Superintendent.

• Prompt and regular attendance; work hours are split shift and may vary during the school year.
• Contact dispatch during the timeframe published in the Driver’s Handbook to report same‑day absences.
• Drive designated route according to stop schedule and transport students to and from school.
• Perform pre‑trip inspection of bus as required by Department regulations and post‑trip inspection for children who may be left on bus.
• Fuel assigned bus as needed and record data in auto‑fueling system.
• Deliver bus to Fleet Maintenance shop as directed by pre‑arranged monthly schedule.
• Submit all reports and time sheets in a timely manner as required by Transportation Department.
• Attend all bus driver safety meetings and training sessions.
• Operate school bus in accordance with Georgia laws and Cobb County School District policies under all weather conditions.
• Maintain a clean exterior and interior of the bus.
• Monitor and operate communication devices for essential and emergency transmissions only.
• Conduct emergency evacuation drills; report delays or accidents to Transportation Department.
• Maintain cordial relations with parents, administrators, other employees, and the general public.
• Maintain student discipline on the bus and refer serious infractions to appropriate administrator.
• Establish, maintain, and utilize seating assignment as required.
• Collect, maintain, and periodically update emergency information and be aware of students’ medical needs as reported by parents/guardian.
• Present professional appearance; drive any make and model bus in the transportation fleet.
• Operate wheelchair lift and perform necessary tie‑downs for Special Education students.
• Perform other duties as assigned by appropriate administrator.

Part‑Time;
Shift Start 6:15 AM, Shift End 5:00 PM.
