Systems Engineer, Test Engineer
As R&D – Data Systems Engineer, Technology Center, you will develop, maintain, and continuously improve the software, data acquisition, database, and engineering systems that enable product verification, reliability, and performance testing within the Technology Center.
In this hands‑on technical role, you will partner closely with R&D engineers and laboratory technicians to integrate data acquisition hardware, instrumentation, software, and data‑management solutions used to evaluate cold storage and laboratory equipment. You will also provide local technical ownership and support for engineering design applications, including Solid Works and related engineering software.
Your work will enable reliable, traceable, and efficient collection and analysis of engineering data while improving laboratory automation, test repeatability, and the productivity of product development teams.
What will you do?Data Acquisition & Test Systems:
Develop, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot data acquisition and test‑control systems supporting controlled‑environment product testing.
Develop and maintain software applications and test scripts used to control laboratory equipment, acquire test data, and automate engineering test execution.
Integrate instrumentation and control hardware including thermocouples, temperature sensors, pressure transducers, flow sensors, power measurement devices, DAQ hardware, PLCs, and related laboratory equipment.
Partner with engineers and technicians to translate test requirements into effective data acquisition, instrumentation, and automation solutions.
Troubleshoot hardware, software, communications, instrumentation, and data‑quality issues affecting laboratory testing.
Support configuration, commissioning, and lifecycle maintenance of custom and commercially available laboratory test systems.
Data, Database & Laboratory Information Systems
Develop and maintain databases used for secure storage, organization, retrieval, and analysis of engineering test data.
Maintain appropriate data integrity, availability, backup, and redundancy practices for Technology Center test data.
Develop efficient methods for transferring test data from laboratory equipment into databases and engineering analysis tools.
Support standardization of test‑data structures, naming conventions, metadata, and reporting practices.
Identify opportunities to improve accessibility and usability of engineering data while maintaining appropriate controls.
Engineering Software & Systems Support
Serve as the local technical resource for engineering design software used by the Controlled Temperature Technologies R&D team, including Solid Works and related applications.
Coordinate software installation, configuration, licensing, upgrades, and troubleshooting in partnership with internal IT and third‑party vendors.
Evaluate new software and laboratory technology solutions and provide technical recommendations based on capability, compatibility, maintainability, and business need.
Maintain documentation for critical laboratory applications, configurations, interfaces, and system dependencies.
Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement
Maintain a safe work environment and a high level of safety awareness while working with laboratory equipment and controlled‑environment test systems.
Establish and maintain standard work, documentation, and configuration practices for critical data and software systems.
Apply Lean / PPI principles to automate repetitive activities, simplify workflows, improve data availability, and reduce test‑system variability.
